Retired Administrators Charter (RAC)

posted Oct 15, 2014, 6:54 PM by ACSA Region 7

We continue to meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Old Mill Café on 9th Street in Modesto. Our goals for the 2014-15 school year include increasing membership, providing more social events and bringing more professional development opportunities to our members. In October, we heard a presentation by Sandy Howell from HICAP regarding retiree benefits, especially related to Medicare. She did a great job of providing options and advice for our group. In November, Luke Hibbard, technology whiz from the Stanislaus COE will be presenting on the latest in tech gadgets. We also have Don Gatti and ACSA staff scheduled to present. Our group is very diverse as far as their success at retirement. Some still do interim positions, several coach new administrators in earning their Professional Services Credential and all of us enjoy the more relaxed pace that retirement brings. Travel is also high on our list of priorities. Regular members are welcome to attend. We begin our meetings at 8:30 a.m.

ACSA Retirement Committee

Our committee will have our first meeting at the State Leadership Summit.  We continue to work with our Governmental Relations executives to advocate for retirement benefits and help ensure our retirees are not left behind.  The good news is that the Governor and Legislature, in association with STRS and ACSA have worked out a plan to make STRS benefits available for the foreseeable future by reducing the long term deficit that has been haunting us for the past several years.  I will give a full report following our meeting in November.
