Retired Charter Announcements

May 2015 Update

posted May 17, 2015, 4:29 PM by ACSA Region 7

The first ever Retirement Conference was held in Palm Springs on May 4-6, 2015.  Although the number of attendees was small, the conference had a big feel with speakers Bob Price, Monte Selby, David Garibaldi and Alan November.  Retired attendees learned about health, travel, financial security, how to use a smartphone and other area of interest.  Those who attended were impressed and promised to recruit others to the conference next year.

The Retired Administrators Charter (RAC) has been busy selecting the winners of the Every Student Succeeding award for the region, meeting monthly on topics ranging from School Finance to travel to using DNA to enhance genealogy and everything in between.  We are excited to celebrate the end of the year at our final luncheon in June.  We will begin meeting again in September.

We would encourage anyone who is considering retirement to attend one of our meetings.  We meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Old Mill Café in Modesto from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The Retired Administrators Charter met on February 6th at the Old Mill Cafe for their monthly meeting.  Guest speaker was Claudia Vicino, ACSA Region 7's Communications Specialist.  Claudia talked briefly about her new position with ACSA and introduced members to the region's social media sites.  One of Claudia's goals is to improve communication between the charter and the region.  She asked members for their input and encouraged them to keep her updated on their various charter events.  Debi Hopman will be recognized as the Region's Retired Administrator of the Year at the annual spring conference on May 4th at the Lake Tahoe Resort in South Lake Tahoe.  Conference registration and dinner tickets are available on our website at www.acsaregion7.net.

Several RAC members met to read the Stanislaus Charter ESS nominations and select the country's ESS student.  Thank you to Bob Price, Barbara McCleskey, Ed Felts, Jerry Panella, Gary Jones and Howard Holtsman for volunteering to be on the ESS Selection Committee.  The ESS Breakfast is scheduled for  March 20 at 7 a.m. at the Martin Petersen Event Center in Modesto.  Tickets are available by calling Claudia Vicino at (209) 521-2800, ext. 2216 or email at cvicino@empire.k12.ca.us.

The Charter changed their April Meeting to April 11th at 7 a.m. at Michael's Pizza Bar & Grill - 500 N. Carpenter Road - Modesto. RAC members will join the ACSA Stanislaus Charter to hear the candidates running for the office of Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools.

The charter is planning a wine tasting event in Livermore on April 27th.  Details to follow.

Congratulations to Barbara McCleskey for being nominated as the charter's new treasurer.
