Welcome back to the 2014-15 school year! ACSA Stanislaus Charter was pleased to host their annual kick-off on August 25, 2014 at the Martin Petersen Event Center in Modesto. Approximately 250 school administrators attended the event which featured ACSA Executive Director, Wes Smith as a guest speaker. Districts competed for the perpetual trophies that were awarded for bringing the greatest percentage of ACSA members or potential ACSA members. The event was also an opportunity for members to network and the Charter reach out to potential members. Our first Breakfast Meeting was held on September 17th with Justin Krone of Modesto City Schools presenting on key strategies to assist students of poverty in the educational setting. The breakfast was attended by about thirty members who found Justin’s message very compelling. Looking ahead, we are excited to begin planning our PDP for this year in which we will be hosting an administrator’s dinner with Anita Archer.

Greeting ACSA colleagues! We are off to a great start in Stanislaus Charter. Our theme for this year is Uncommon Leadership for a Bold New Future which connects the journey we are on - heading into the implementation of Common Core with the State ACSA Strategic Planning as we move forward as an association. The changes we are faced with there, in addition to the changes with the Local Control Funding Formula, will take “Uncommon Leadership” yet we are up to the challenge.

Many of us began the school year in early August and were already looking toward Back-to-School Nights before we even had our annual kick-off. The ACSA Stanislaus Charter Kick-Off was held on a Monday at the Martin Petersen Event Center in Modesto; it was well attended with over two hundred members of the Charter in attendance along with a strong showing from the Retirees Charter!  We were especially happy to have ACSA members from Modesto City Schools joining us as well.

In other Charter news, we are in the process of planning an event that will be an opportunity for those across the county to gather together to share and network regarding the implementation of Common Core.  More information to come soon!
