February Update

The Tuolumne County Charter held their annual "Every Student Succeeds" breakfast honoring students from all of the county schools who have overcome tremendous obstacles and challenges to be successful. Attended by more than 150 teachers, parents and students, the student stories were very compelling and often emotional. These young people have endured family tragedies, serious illness and disabilities to still be model students at their schools. The charter is also planning for the spring Professional Development Breakfast on April 14th at the Home Place Cafe. This is an opportunity to bring a dynamic speaker to the county for area administrators.

Winter 2014

The Tuolumne Charter of ACSA is pleased to continue the fine tradition of honoring educators, students, and community members who are making a positive difference for local education. We recently enjoyed a timely message given by Dr. Steve Horowitz concerning best practices for negotiations during our Fall PDP held at the Pine Tree Restaurant in Sonora on November 14th.

Looking forward to February 4th, our Charter will celebrate with all the awardees and their families of the Every Student Succeeds breakfast event. It is good to know that we have multiple candidates that are worthy of this recognition and they deserve our heartfelt appreciation for their overcoming spirits.

At our Spring PDP, which is scheduled for April 15th, we have invited the new Columbia College President, Dr. Angela Fairchild. She has just arrived at Columbia to begin her term as President and our Charter will welcome her to our county while continuing to build strong connections to our neighborhood College.

And who could forget our Employees that Make a Difference (March 20th) each day in our school community. This event is a highlight for our Charter as we take time to honor very deserving individuals that make our business of education strong and valid.

Our Charter remains purposeful and is working together to provide extraordinary service locally, in Region 7, and in California State ACSA.

I am impressed with our local leadership and their resilience as we all maneuvered through the challenges of the Rim Fire and its lingering effects.  This has been an opportunity for our school leaders to demonstrate their strong connection to their local campus community as well as Tuolumne County as a whole.  School leaders know more than just how to run a school; they are fully equipped to partner with other community leaders to help facilitate safe and effective responses to emergency situations.  We appreciate all the shared concern throughout Region 7 as our Tuolumne Charter is still dealing with the ramifications of a large wild fire in our area. Thanks for all the support and encouragement.

We welcome a few new administrators to our Charter as the school year opens here in Tuolumne County. Our Charter calendar has been approved and many of our traditional sponsored events remain and are well received in our educational communities.  Value continues to be placed on honoring the people who make a difference in education and on the achievements of incredible students.  The Tuolumne Charter intends to thrive in our duties as educational leaders as we tackle all the many changes that are coming our way this year.

Our Charter remains purposeful and is working together to provide extraordinary service locally, in Region 7, and in California State ACSA.
